So you’ve got a beautiful new canvas print that you can’t wait to hang on the wall… But for whatever reason, whether it’s a strict landlord or freshly painted walls that you don’t want to damage, using nails or screws is not an option.
Luckily, there’s a really easy way to hang a canvas painting without damaging the walls. Read on for our step-by-step guide!
How to Hang a Canvas Print – Step by Step
- What You’ll Need
VELCRO® Brand HANGables® Picture Hanging Strips
Spirit level
Pencil - Mark The Wall
The method for hanging a canvas without damaging the walls is much the same as hanging a picture without nails.
Start with a spirit level and pencil, and make a light mark on the wall where you want the centre of the canvas to be. - Attach Picture Hanging Strips To The Wall and The Canvas
Next, take a pack of picture hanging strips. Remember to check how many kilograms they can hold to make sure they’ll be able to hold the weight of your canvas. You’ll find this information on the pack.
Stick one half of a picture hanging strip in each corner of the canvas with the arrows facing upwards.
Then attach the other half, press it down firmly and remove the protective film.
Make sure the wall is clean and dry, and then press the canvas firmly against the wall. Press and hold for 30 seconds and then slide the canvas up and off the wall. - Wait 30 Seconds
At this point, it’s important to give the adhesive time to set. Wait for seconds.
- Slide The Canvas Up and Off The Wall
Temporarily remove the canvas from the wall.
- Rub and Press The Picture Hanging Strips
To make sure the picture hanging strips are firmly stuck to the wall, rub and press them for 30 seconds.
- Re-Attach Your Canvas
Last but not least, hang your canvas back on the wall! The beauty of using picture hanging strips is that they’re removable so when you get tired of your current canvas art, you can peel the strips off the wall cleanly, without leaving any marks or damage.
Top Tips
How To Hang A Canvas Flush Against The Wall?
To make sure your canvas hangs flush against the wall, we’d highly recommend using picture hanging strips instead of nails or screws. They’re extremely thin, which means they’ll be unnoticeable behind your canvas print. And you can put one in each corner of the canvas to make sure the whole thing is the same distance from the wall.
How To Hang A Large Canvas?
The method for hanging a large canvas is the same as hanging any other canvas. But just like when you’re hanging a heavy picture, if you’ve decided to use picture hanging strips, it’s important to make sure they’re strong enough to hold the weight of a big canvas.
VELCRO® Brand HANGables® Picture Hanging Corners can hold up to 6kg per four pieces. And for larger/heavier canvases, you can go for our large picture hanging squares that can hold up to 7.5kg per four pieces.
